Tips for Fasting
1. Do not participate if
a. Pregnant or nursing c. Sick – flu
b. health issues - diabetic d. Operate heavy machinery
2. Talk to your doctor – about any restriction you need to obey
3. Confess and repent of any known sin – Fasting will bring other sins to light so we can repent
4. Continue regular hygiene habits – wash your face and dress normal
5. Drink water – water is the greatest flushing agent
6. Because fasting is a physical discipline - ask God for strength to fast
7. Cease from exercising while fasting
8. The brain wants the very substance that is doing it harm –meditate on the Word
9. Focus on God, His power, and His reward - not food
10. Be led by the Holy Spirit - Ask Him what to fast for
11. Take the time you would have spent eating and use it to pray or study the Word
12. Fasting
is not just from food, but from other physical desires – it is focusing on the
spiritual
